about the group: this group is based in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and offers an introduction to one of its four foundational concepts: Distress Tolerance. Distress Tolerance Skills are the strategies that help us remain in control of our emotions so we can avoid impulsive reactions and relationship breakdowns. These are such helpful skills for parents! When we live with young humans, we are living with behaviours and emotions we do not always want to be around - and that can be really frustrating, disappointing, irritating… (etc.). And when we respond out of those emotions, we aren’t always at our best and rarely end up helping the situation. So, come learn more about Distress Tolerance skills so you can use them, model them, and share them with others.
