Supporting kids, teens, and families with compassionate, strength-based mental health care, in person and virtually.

Welcome to Sound Youth Counselling

If you are looking for counselling for a child, teen, or family in Parry Sound, Huntsville, or anywhere across Ontario, you have found the right place. We are a youth-focused mental health practice built around one simple belief: that every young person deserves access to compassionate, high-quality support.

We work with children ages 5 and up, teens, parents, caregivers, and families. Whether your child is struggling with anxiety, navigating a difficult transition, or you just are not sure where to start, we are here to help you figure it out.

Our Approach

At Sound Youth Counselling, we take a strength-based, whole-person approach to mental health. We look at the big picture, recognizing that every child and teen exists within their family, their community, and all the other layers that shape who they are. We are non-judgmental, practical, and supportive.

Our team has experience working with children and youth through CAS, the Victim Quick Response Program, and surrounding First Nations communities. We offer a variety of therapeutic approaches including CBT, DBT, EMDR, Play-Based Therapy, and Satir Family Therapy.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • We work with children ages 5 and up, teens, parents, caregivers, and families. Our services are designed specifically for young people and the adults who support them.

  • Yes. Everything shared in counselling sessions is private and confidential. Our practice operates in accordance with the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA) and the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Services Workers Code of Ethics. We will explain the limits of confidentiality clearly before sessions begin.

  • Every child and family is different, so there is no fixed timeline. Some clients find a few sessions helpful for working through a specific challenge, while others benefit from longer-term support. Your counsellor will work with you to set goals and revisit them regularly so you always know where things stand.

  • Many extended health benefit plans cover services provided by Registered Counsellors. We recommend checking with your insurance provider to confirm your coverage before booking. Our team can provide receipts and documentation to support any claims you need to submit.

  • The first session is a chance for your counsellor to get to know you and your family. You will talk about what brought you in, what your goals are, and what to expect from the process. There is no pressure to share more than you are comfortable with. For younger children, we may spend time in play or creative activity to help them feel at ease.
